Grey Knignts - More NMM

Did some more work tonight on the paladins, i'm happy to say that they are very close to be finished. Bolter and Psycannon is pretty much all that is left to paint.

Feel like i had those mounted for months.... and its almost true.

The red and blue work pretty nicely together, and i'm very happy with the result so far. Have to say, i can't wait until i get everything glued together...

Grey Knights - Power Weapon and Purity Seals

Pretty busy week as i was on a business trip for 2 days, a game on friday, and father's day, but i still managed to get some things done.

First, a little something for all the dad around.

Grey Knights - Shoulder pad work, and contemptor

Last few days gave me a few hours to work some more on my Grey Knights. So far, i'm pretty happy with the result, but i can't wait to glue it all together and see how it hold as a unit.

First, i'm well advanced in building my Contemptor. Since i'm not sure he'll stay all his live an autocannon madmen, i want to leave it open to swap his arms, so i'm thinking about magnetizing the weapons. I decided to glue on the shoulder, since i though it wasn't the best joint (too easy to see) so i decided instead to go for the round thing just before the autocannon. Still need to see how the CC weapon attach to the contemptor, but once that is worked out, magnet goes in.

Still wondering as well if it's grey knights enough. I'm not sure, but i don't know what else to add....

Next up, shoulderpads.

Gold is finished, red is just basecoated, as well as the purity seal. Its really just a look at how it will end up. I'm not entirely happy about the letters on the shoulder, but i had alot of trouble painting them as well as the chestplate.

Obviously, from up close, its alot different than from a distance, and since those are aimed at being tabletop quality, i don't mind that much that they arent perfect. I'll most likely fix a few of the mistake, but it'll never be perfect.

Lastly, i received my autocannon replacement. Out of the 4, one is perfect, 2 are ok, and 1 is complete garbage... But they were free, and quick to get, so i can't complain.

Past week been pretty crazy ; we bought a house, sold ours, and in between, i managed to get some paint done.

Last time i had a softly highlighted unit of 5 paladins, this week, they are shaded, and the NMM is complete (on the body only).

Grey Knights - New colors

So i wasn't quite happy with the purple armor, and figured it would only get worst if i really tried to save it, so i went back to musing, and came back with another color. This time, its the Teal-inator!

Grey Knights : The armor - a Test.

Tonight i decided to give a go at testing my armor painting scheme. Since i want to use purple, and as little color as possible, i figured i could try shading a bit with purple.

The result so far isnt so bad imho.

The writing isnt finished by any means, i only started on the base color, to give a rough idea on how those 2 would work together.

Grey Knight.... wait.... what?

So yes, i decided to go with Grey Knight as my new army. Though long and hard about starting a new fantasy army for the next big tournament next year, but decided against it for two reason ;

I like to play, and 40k give me more opportunity to play.
I like 40k, but the Dark Eldar were feeling a bit... boring (ok, on go, we shoot everything at ennemy, and hope that we have enough left after his shooting to shoot again!).

Terminator armor is unknown to me.
Psychic power is unknown to me.
Deep Strike is unknown to me.

With this army, i get it all! And just like my Ogres, i don't need to paint that many model to get a complete army (at 1500 pts, all i need is roughly 10 Terminator, 2 HQ and 2 Dreadnought).

Daemon Prince ; Bite off more than i can chew?

Sometimes, i have ideas.

Sometimes, they are even good ideas.

Sometimes, i also try to make them a reality.

Sometimes, it works.

Sometimes, it doesn't.

Right now, i'm not 100% sure where my Daemon Prince stand in the "works" or the "doesn't works" column. I had great plan ; From a terrorgheist, building a unique Daemon Prince out of bits and green stuff.

Right now, i'm about 10% into the project, and i'm just not sure if i'll be able to finish it.

ND Open V - Battle Report

ND Open is finished, and i’m very happy to say that i got what i wanted ; a load of fun, and a load of good comments on my army. The only bad comment came from the judge, who pointed out that my toad didn’t have a base done like the others.

I finished 22^nd (out of 50 players) in Best General. It’s roughly what I was aiming for. I hadn’t tried my list nor even the new book prior to the tournament, so I wasn’t really expecting to do too well. I think with a few more game under my belt, I could have done a lot better. (my score : 100.5, best score : 143)

I also finished 12^th overall in best Sportmanship. This isn’t really representative on how well you behave or how well your list is played, since, well, it’s so subjective. So I’ll just be happy that I wasn’t too far down there. (my score : 117.5, best score : 128)

I finished tied 2^nd in Best Presentation, which is pretty much where I was hoping to get (I really wanted the 1^st place, but I knew there would be 2-3 army better painted than mine up there). I quite frankly don’t mind all that much that I didn’t bring back the price, because frankly I was just very happy to be considered one of the top painted army. Definitely feels like it paid off to spend so much time painting a whole 2500 pts army in  roughly 6 months. It was fun, and I’m happy about what came out. I’m definitely looking forward to next year, with either more added to the carnival, or a completely new army (most definitely another Chaos God). (my score 110, best score : 120)

And I finished….. 3^rd (!!!!!) Overall. That’s quite a surprise. It’s not something I was expecting at all (was aiming at a top 15), and that alone put a big smile on my face. I did face some pretty strong list (especially on my first game, where I faced a Ld bomb army from old Daemon book). (my score 338, best score : 389)

Plague Drone of Nurgle completed

Well, first i must say i'm sorry i didn't post much WIP of these, as i was in a pretty big rush to get everything completed in time. Good news is ; i'm done! And i still have 48 hours left to read my book and learn about Daemons, yay!

So when the book was released, i purchased the book, the magic card (obviously) and 2 Plague Drone of Nurgle, without really knowing if they are good or not. I just figured i'd field them anyway, so why not buy enough to do whatever i want? In the end, my list this weekend will include 6 of them.

So lets see some pictures

No we do not fly, we "hover"

As you can see, they are using the yellow from my Nurgling. A pretty weird choice, but i figured if i painted them with a green tint, it would end up a green plaguebearer on a green fly on a green base... too green for me. So i went with Yellow.

The armor is black, as i figured there was enough color in there already, and it was a good color for the small bits like the tips of their many legs.
