Quite frankly, i didn't really manage to have the control i was hoping with pigments, so i figured i'd go another way to get my rust done on my warriors.
Here's the result so far ;
Basically, i went sponge frienzy, added some watery rust, and voila!
I personally think its alot better looking than the previous technique, and it also alot less messy.
I've been painting and playing Fantasy for the past 3 years, spending much time and money into a hobby that very few people really understand. This blog is following my steps into the world of Game Workshop's Fantasy and 40k.

Tale of Painters ; Warriors units Part 3
Well, it's been a pretty productive month so far. I have to say i learned alot (especially about what not to do with pigments), and the result is my first finished warrior unit.
I'm pretty happy with the result, even if they are still a bit too rusted, and the base are, i dunno, weird. I think the color scheme is perfect, i just need to work a bit more on how i render it.
For the record, my picture taking ability didnt improve a single bit.
First, my complete unit and its transport.

Tale of Painters ; Warriors units Part 2
I've spent
a few hours each night painting up my warriors ; learning new medium like
pigment proven to be a lot more challenging than expected.
List of the month (Orc & Goblins 2500 pts)
List of the
month : Orcs & Goblins (2500 pts)
For the
past month or two, I been playing weekly at night vs a friend of mine. After
the Empire release, he decided to start playing that army, and I quickly
switched to Orcs&Goblins, for giggles.
What I ended
up realizing, is despite the fact Orcs and Goblins are not a strong army book,
there’s a lot that can be done with the green menace.

Tale of Painters ; Warriors units
For May, my goal is to paint 2 Warrior units with 2 Venom. Then, in June, i repeat the same goal. So after those two months, i should have 4 core units, with just enough spot for Wracks and/or Hellions (depending on which HQ i pick between an Haemonculus or the Baron). There will be nothing special about those Warrior (60 pts unit with Blaster upgrade), but i have magnetized the Venom's weapons.
Here is my units for May in their current state.
So far nothing special. I know some people would argue that you need cold or warm color in the shade and/or highlight, but i personally like the greyish shade i'm going for, and the rust should help bring some warmt to the model. Goal is to have them painted up next week, to be weathered into oblivion the following week, and then starting fresh with a new unit.
And some closer picture of their current state... still lots of detail/fixing to do.
