List of the month (Orc & Goblins 2500 pts)

List of the month : Orcs & Goblins (2500 pts)

For the past month or two, I been playing weekly at night vs a friend of mine. After the Empire release, he decided to start playing that army, and I quickly switched to Orcs&Goblins, for giggles.

What I ended up realizing, is despite the fact Orcs and Goblins are not a strong army book, there’s a lot that can be done with the green menace.

Right from the start, you can tell the uses of no-brainer in this list. Lucky Shrunken Head is mandatory, as soon as you have a single Savage units imho. A nice addition is the Savage Orc Warboss with the very expensive Battle Axe. Sure, he might end up WS3, but with 10 attacks at S10, your opponent is better not relying on armor to survive. It’s a can opener, and a unit breaker.

Yes, I do use 2 NG Shaman. Why? Because they can easily cast useless spell that your opponent might end up forced to dispel just to avoid losing Dispel Dice. I see them as nice addition, and actually, some of their spell are pretty interesting. The BSB with his very expensive Banner is also a nice addition imho. Stick him next to your Shaman, and there’s pretty good chance your opponent will have to rely on crappy stats to bring down your very important Shrunken Head carrier.

In core, I considered for a long time Night Goblin, their Nets and their Fanatic, but I ended up deciding against them, and going instead for another unit of Savage Orc. Sure those are no Big ‘Un, nor do they have a 5+ Wardsave, but they are still a pretty solid unit that can easily deal with lots of things.

The 3 Chariot are based off some Dark Elf list I kept seeing (sorry, can’t tell exactly from which Blog it comes from). I decided to give them a go, and even if I have yet to do anything worthwhile with them, I still think they deserve a spot in the roster, and are just a very tricky unit to learn to use.

The 2 goblin doom diver and 2 Mangler Squigs are really the army armor in this list. Those two can turn just about any heavy cavalry or heavily armoured infantry into pulp. The arachnarok is another puzzling unit that I think deserve a spot in the list, just for the sake of fielding that amazing model.

So here it is, my Orcs and Goblins 2500 pts list

  1. I like the list however, who is the BSB? also what are your thoughts on the feedback scroll? i've had some really excellent rolls where i've destroyed a lvl 4 general/wiz while they were casting a big spell and completely decimating the army afterwards but i'm more inclined to get a few small units of NG's no command and 3 fanatics each and just throwing them into the opponents army and releasing the fanatics. 3x 20 NG's w spears and fanatics. that plus your manglers and the doom divers? its a pretty nasty tactic but it works.that axe is intriguing as well. I might look into using that. I usually get the sword of anti-heros and a shield.

  2. I forgot to post it... its a Savage Orc with the 100+ pts banner.

Feedback Scroll is good when you can find a cheap character to carry it. Goblin Shaman works pretty good for that.

The problem with fanatics is that these units get expensives fast. If you want 2 medium/big unit of Savage Orcs, you won't be able to afford these.
