Runts Trollbloods WIP #1

So i started laying some paint on my trollbloods between games night and table work. It's basically just to see how... weird this will all look in the end.

When i told my friend my idea, he said that he didnt think much people would get it... so i have a few idea that could help people see the theme behind this army... but those are secrets!

WarmaHordes Folding Table

So tonight i completed the frame on my warmahordes table. It's a side project i wanted to attempt, allowing me to play games homes too.

It's still far from perfect (as you can see on the curve), but its pretty impressive for someone that just never worked with wood before.

Here you can see it folded. Its pretty tight, look almost professional!

For some reason, 4'x4' looked smaller when playing on a 4x6 table....

And the infamous curve

So i'm trying to figure a way to fix that problem... if anyone has a clue, i'm open to idea....

Next up, once that problem is fixed, is getting some hinge, some foam on top, and start working on the playing field... i'm still undecided between laying a zuzzy mat over it or building a table over it that couldnt be removed (with a river and all)....

Runts Trollbloods

I recently purchased my friend's old trollblood army very cheaply. The goal is pretty simple ; loads of bright color (that i sadly never got to use on my WHFB or W40k army) like orange, blue and yellow. I'm thinking about having no skin color omogeneity in the army ; some will be blue, some will be orange, some will be red...

here's the list of what i currently own in my hands

Madrak
Grim Angus
Hoarluk Doomshaper
Borka Kegslayer

1 Troll Axer
2 Troll Impaler (Metal)
8 Warriors
6 Krielstone Bearer and Stone Scribes
6 Pyg Bushwackers
1 Swamp Gobbler Bellows Crew
5 Trollkin Champions
3 Trollkin Long Riders
2 Fell Caller Hero

Tale of Painters ; Warrior Units #3&4 Part 1

I started working on my last 2 units of Dark Eldar warriors last week, a bit later than expected. Sadly, last month's units didnt get any vote, but quite frankly, its easily understandable. My technique is sloppy with those, and its definately not for everyone's taste.

For this month, i decided to alter a bit my technique. First, My transport now have some yellow to distinguish them from one another, and i have some hope to add a little something to the units to "mark" them to one unit or another.

For the yellowish Venom, i plan on adding white to the chip, like everyone else does. the rest of the model will be like my previous two.

For the second Venom, i want to try something different, but i'm not sure what yet.

And here's my warriors in their current state. Nothing spectacular ; white primer and white airbrush. Rusting them up should start tonight, and i plan on trying that white highlight on the chips too.

Next month ; Talos Pain Engine and Razorwing Jetfighter. Once all is said and done, i should have about 1000 pts painted over 4 months.

Hordes : Trollbloods

What just happened? Did i just cheated on my beloved Games Workshop? Yes, yes I did. I recently started playing Hordes/Warmachine with a friend. New rules, new army, new world ; its exactly what I needed.

So I started playing trollblood late may, slowly learning the rules and tactics of this army. I have to say I’m having a lot of fun (even if I’m still far from ready to win a first match), and I am really looking forward to start painting the army. I already know pretty much all about my color scheme, and I just need to start paint them.

Taste like crap, but hey, the color are nice!

Color scheme is a funny thing. I was at the gas station, looking for some candy for my kids, when i came across a Runts metal box, and decided my Trollblood would be based on that box. Lots of orange, some blue, some purple, basically an army you'd almost want to eat with bright and vibrant colors all around.. I might even go as far as avoiding Brown shadow and/or base color (sacrilege!).

My list right now ;

Faction: Trollblood
Points: 35/35
Grim Angus (*6pts)
* Troll Impaler (5pts)
* Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
Trollkin Fennblades (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Trollkin Fennblade Officer & Drummer (2pts)
Trollkin Long Riders (Leader and 2 Grunts) (7pts)
Trollkin Runeshapers (Leader and 2 Crew) (4pts)
Trollkin Runeshapers (Leader and 2 Crew) (4pts)
Stone Scribe Chronicler (2pts)

100th Post!

For this milestone, i decided to go ahead, and get a group shot of every army i own, in their current state. Figured i could also talk about GW's new price hike, but i don't really feel like this post being a downer.

Ogre Kingdoms

Ogre were my first real army i started collecting, in 2008 or so. I have a bit of everything, and can easily field 5000+ points on the table. I won many small tournament with it (Especially since our new book was released), and i even went as far as to win Best General in a 40+ players event.

About 90% is painted.

Dark Elves

Dark Elves were an army i started back in 7th ed, when i was tired of loosing with my Ogres, and wanted a few wins to raise moral. It worked. It also allowed me to learn alot more about game (since Ogres were pretty basic back then, without cavalry, little shooting, and weird magic phase).

About 50% is painted, some to good standard

there's a few model i'm particulary proud of ; My cold one were painted scale by scale, My Cauldron's Witch Elves were painted to a standard i could never achieve again, and my favourite piece of all ; my Sorceress
Some color choice were perfect for that model

Dark Eldar

I decided that i wanted to start 40k a long time ago, but never really cared much to collect a complete army. I finally did lastr year, and i'm currently owning about 2000 pts of those elves in space. Not much is painted (or even assembled), but my goal is to get it slowly done, hoping to start playing for real with 6th ed (and when times permit... which shouldnt happen too often). Sadly, since everything i have painted to my current standard is currently displayed at my local store, there's no army shot available at this time.

Haemonculi painted 2 month ago

Orcs and Goblins

I always though that an Orc army was interesting. Not very competitive, but loads of fun and random stuff that can make each game truely unique, even with the same list. This one is my first true army with loads of conversion (and a theme!), which makes its progress slower than anything i've ever done. I did almost complete 2 chariot conversion, but nothing is finished. About 5 Orcs are painted.
Not much is painted, or even built!

Nurgle Carnival

This one is not really a secret, but it's something i plan on starting maybe this summer. Basically, i'm aiming for a mono-god Daemons army based on the Nurgle Carnival. With each model an unique conversion, this is one of those project that might never ever reach 1500 points, especially if they get released with the type of new model we've seen with the last few books (come on, who really wants to convert something like an ironblaster when the current model is so gorgeous?). I have tons of idea in store, with unit filler, presentation tray, and even unique model ideas.
