Nurgle Carnival - Great Unclean One

A few weeks ago, after a game where my Dark Elf ass was handed to me, someone kindly told me that a metal GUO was for sale in used for just 25$. Considering i was contemplating buying the Forge World one, i figure it was a steal, even if i HATED the model.

One of the biggest issue i had with him was that it was just ugly. After a while trying to figure out how to paint him, i realized something else was bugging me ; he wasnt fitting at all with the plaguebearers ; his wounds were very oddly shaped, his guts weren't hanging out, he seriously was just some big ass model without much to offer. I attempted to fix at least one problem, making his guts hanging out.

He's not my favourite model, and i think it shows on the paint, not my favourite paintjob either. I tried to go for a not so unified skin color, adding many different shade and highlight, but the result was far from what i was aiming for. A very big learning experience.

So here is, mister Great Unclean One, the Carnival's main attraction. Still unnamed.

Pretty happy with his guts. Not perfect, but i managed a good job at hiding the joint with his belly.

Nurgle Carnival - Plague Bearers WIP #6

Tonight i finished 5 more plaguebearers ; my flyboy. There's no real reason why i went with flies, except that it really fits with the nurgle part of my theme. They were a kick to build, but not so much fun to paint, and it shows ; they're not my best, imho. Still, they add variety to an already very diversified army. I can also use them as Furies, if i ever feel like fielding them.

 

 

5 flies. 7 would been better i guess, but i though that too many would draw too much attention to them, and not the theme

Today there is not gonna be that many picture of the remaining Plaguebearers. They arent really any diffrerent than the other, except for their clownliness. A carnival couldnt happen without clowns, right?

So this is all the Plaguebearers i have left completely painted. What is left is my Great Unclean one, and my unfinished Plaguebearers and unit fillers.

Today, here are 6 more plaguebearers, mostly finished (a few touch up left to do, but should look about 95% like this when done)

from left to right ; Strong man,slug eater (fakir style), knife thrower, slug eater #2, Random Chap, Vomiter (Fire eater)

I tried sculpting a spine on the random chap. It worked nicely, but would been better with some skin overlapping it

Goal for 2013

With new year just around the corner, its time to write down my goal for the next year.

Warmachine

#1 My goal is pretty simple ; i cannot buy any more models before i start painting them again. I have a complete army, and only 2 models are painted.

Warhammer 40k

#2 Finish at least 10 of my Wyches
#3 Paint up all my Helion
#4 Add a unit of Painted Jetbike or Allies to the army.

Warhammer Fantasy

Nurgle
#5 Finish my 2500 pts army
#6 Build a presentation tray
#7 Play at least 10 games (not including ND V tournament) with them.

#8 Finish my Stonehorn

Lots, and lots of goal for 2013. Some are pretty easy (building my doom diver), some will require alot more times (like finishing my Nurgle army). Out of the 24 goal i've set, i'm aiming for a 60% success rate.

Nurgle Carnival - Plague Bearers WIP #1

As previously mentionned, a new projet is on the desk ; building and painting a new Daemon army by March.

So far, i have a little over 60 Built Plaguebearers and unit fillers. off the lot, roughly 30 are fully painted, ready to be gorified and based.

My current goal is to have 3 units (28, 28 and 14) of plaguebearers. The big two units will have full command, and the other just the musician.


First, some shot of the crew. Those are "standard" models, with little or no carnival modification. They are there just to boost the ranks, and not look too... i dunno, full?

Nurgle Carnival (2500 pts)

Over the last 3 weeks, i been working hard getting a new army together.

I've talked alot about it, and finally decided to start it after the model finally going plastic.

I'm talking about Nurgle Carnival.

As of right now, i have 21 Plaguebearers ready (out of.... 90-100), with plans for about 60 of them, so there should be alot of variety on each of my units.

First, lets look at the list. I know that Daemons are due sooner than later, but with Games Workshop finally closing any chance of rumors on books to come, i have to work with the conviction that the new book will not be released before our next big events, which is planned to happen in March.

First tournament under 6th edition (1500-1650 pts)

I played my first "tournament" this weekend with my Dark Eldar at a friendly 40k day down at the store. I brought my Dark Eldar to try and see how well they can do outside my basement (my previous games were all agains my friend Orks).

I'm pretty proud to say that i went 2 wins and 1 draw with a far from competitive list (at least, imho).
